Reverse Applique How To

Applique designs can be sewn to the background by hand using several different methods. But other techniques can be used to applique, too, such as fusing. The first appliques I ever made were on stockings “Mrs. Claus” made for College Boy, Princess and Angel Face. The art of appliqueing , or "sewing fabric on top of fabric," has been around for decades. My son got this great orange t-shirt at the science fair he participated in last year. I don't do needle turn applique–not sure if I ever will, but that is besides the point.

  • One of the most worthwhile purchases you will ever make is a good book on quiltingone that covers all the basics.
  • Reverse applique involves layering several fabrics together, and then cutting pieces away to reveal what's underneath.
  • Reverse is my favorite type of applique because I prefer not to deal with many small pieces.
